Brothers from Havant release new vegan treats to calm cats on Bonfire Night
The new range of treats is completely plant based
Two brothers who developed an international vegan pet food brand from their spare room in Havant have released new calming cat treats to reduce feline anxiety on bonfire night.
Darrell de Vries and Damian Eadie, both vegans, founded Benevo in 2004 from their home to make food for cats and dogs without using animal products. The business has now expanded, shipping to 30 countries and operating out of a local solar-powered warehouse.
Ahead of Bonfire Night, the brothers have released a new range of vegan cat treats to help keep cats calm during the stressful night of fireworks and loud noises. According to Cats Protection, our feline friends have very sensitive hearing, making celebrations involving fireworks noisy and unpredictable.

After two years of development, the new D’Lishies range includes the calming Cheeze Toasties, designed to reduce anxiety, as well as two other recipes to help support urinary health and improve dental hygiene.
Mr Eadie said: “When we started Benevo, people told us meat-free pet food would never work. Twenty-two years later, we’re still here and still challenging tradition.
“D’Lishies took two years of development and testing, because a treat should do more than fill a gap. It should taste great and actually do your cat some good.”
Mr de Vries said: “It’s amazing to think that something we started in a spare room in Portsmouth is now serving millions of meat-free meals to animals in homes around the world. We’re proud to still be a local, independent business, and to be powered by the sun.”
