Arson accused denies attack

A MAN accused of setting a car on fire while a teenager was sitting inside has appeared in court.

Chad Dendy is charged with one court of arson with intent to endanger life.

The 21-year-old appeared before a judge at Portsmouth Crown Court accused of the attack on Friday.

Wearing a black top and speaking via video link from his custody cell, Dendy spoke only to confirm his name and to plead not guilty to the charge over the incident at Locks Heath Shopping centre on June 12.

Dendy, of Drake Close, Locks Heath, is due to face trial and a preliminary date has been fixed for Wednesday, November 2.

Judge Sarah Munro QC remanded him into custody until the hearing.
