Fresh appeal for witnesses in Southsea rape investigation after Portsmouth man Muhib Uddin is charged

DETECTIVES have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to a rape in Southsea.

The incident happened in an alleyway off Clarendon Road on Saturday, August 29.

Officers investigating the rape have released a CCTV image of two potential witnesses they are looking to speak with.

In a post on Twitter, Pompey Police wrote: ‘It’s an unusual request after we’ve made a charge in an investigation, but we’d still like to hear from these two men who may have seen something that could help us in our enquiries about a rape.

‘They were in #Southsea on Sat 29 Aug. If it’s you pls call 101 re:44200333243.’

Portsmouth man Muhib Uddin has been charged with rape and appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 31-year-old was bailed to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on October 5.

Police said the victim is receiving support from specialist officers.

Three previously arrested men, 20, 25 and 37, all from Portsmouth, will face no action.
