Gosport house party resident fined £200 by Hampshire police for 'flagrant' Covid-19 breach

A HOUSEHOLDER has been fined £200 after police were called to a house party.

Officers in Gosport attended the address in Anson Close, Gosport, on Friday night at around 7.40pm and dispersed the attendees.

Now they have revealed the householder was fined and warned to behave better after 20-30 people were at the party.

Current Covid-19 laws ban gatherings of more than six people.

Posting on Facebook, police said: ‘Following recent government announcements officers from Gosport took decisive action on Friday evening when we were called to a house party in Anson Close, Gosport.

‘The party was in clear breach of COVID regulations restricting gatherings of more than six people and the attendees were dispersed.

‘The householder was given a £200 fine and advised about their future conduct.

‘Individuals, businesses and households all have a responsibility to help limit the spread of the virus, and we will play our part in supporting the public to follow the rules and guidance.

‘The vast majority of our community have done so and our approach of engaging with people and explaining the regulations in place will remain.

‘However we are talking about saving lives and flagrant breaches of legislation will be dealt with robustly as was the case on Friday night.’
