A Gosport Borough Council CCTV camera picked up Ward dumping the glass from a truck in September last year. The number plate was traced and council officers tracked him down.

Councillor Philip Raffaelli, chairman of the council's Community Board, said: ‘We use CCTV to deter people from committing these crimes and will not hesitate to prosecute any offenders we identify.

‘The fine in this case shows the court takes fly-tipping as seriously as we do. I hope it will make others think twice before disposing of waste illegally.’
