Gunwharf Quays responds to claims girl treated “disgustingly” by security after large brawl
Gunwharf Quays has responded to claims a teenage girl was treated “disgustingly” when detained by security after a large brawl that saw two men assaulted.

Chaotic scenes were captured on camera at the popular shopping centre showing part of the incident where a girl is screaming on the ground as several members of security detain her, as reported.
Police said the incident happened around 7.30pm on Monday 5 January when a 63-year-old man from Portsmouth was assaulted and received injuries to his head and face.
A 24-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and has been bailed with conditions until Saturday 4 April whilst “enquiries continue”.
A police spokesperson also said a 14-year-old girl received a community resolution following an assault without injury against a 27-year-old man from Havant.
In the video the girl was heard crying and screaming “you’re hurting me” towards security guards as she was held on the ground amid shouts from youngsters to “get off her”.
The girl’s parent said her daughter was taken to hospital with possible concussion and whiplash and branded the treatment towards her child as “disgusting”.
Now a spokesperson for Gunwharf Quays has said of the incident: “We can confirm that police responded to an incident involving several members of the public at Gunwharf Quays on the evening of Monday 5 January.”
When asked for a response over claims security were heavy-handed, the spokesperson added: “As this relates to an ongoing police matter, we aren’t able to comment further at this time.”
