Roaming burglars target vehicles and houses in Horndean during early hours

A trio of burglars were seen roaming the streets of Horndean in the early hours.

Police said several incidents took place in the early hours of last Monday (October 14). East Hampshire Police reported on Facebook that three unknown males broke into a parked car in Collins Road.

A bank car was stolen from the vehicle between 4am and 4.03am. While the theft was taking place, one of the men walked up to a property and tried to get through the front door, but was unsuccessful. Roughly seven minutes later, 4.10am, men were seen trying car door handles in Lychgate Drive. Police said they were unable to get into a vehicle, a property to a neighbours vehicle was found on a footpath nearby.

A vehicle was later broken into in Peacock Gardens that morning, with the force stating that nothing was stolen following a “messy search” by thieves. Police said: “Please ensure you are vigilant at all times, calling police to report any suspicious activity, not just around your own property but anything suspicious in your residential area and community. In an emergency use 999 or 101 for non-emergency. It is not too late to report any suspicious activity to police.”
