Man, 21, arrested after teenage woman attacked in Gosport street

A MAN has been detained by police following an assault on a teenager as she walked along the street – leaving her with non life-threatening injuries.

Police have confirmed a 21-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested following the attack in Gosport on an 18-year-old woman from Fareham.

The incident took place at the Ham Lane/Elson Road junction on Monday at 7.10am.

‘She sustained injuries during the assault, but they are not considered serious or life-threatening,’ a police statement said.

‘This morning (Tuesday December 15) officers arrested a 21-year-old man, of no fixed abode, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

‘He remains in custody at this time.’
