Man, 39, charged with four burglaries in Portsmouth and will now appear in court

POLICE have charged a man following a spate of burglaries.

It comes after four burglaries in the Nelson area of Portsmouth from Wednesday September 9 to Tuesday September 15.

Properties on Wilson Road, Knox Road, Jervis Road and London Avenue were targeted.

In the first instance on Wilson Road, between 10pm on Wednesday September 9 and 9.30am on Thursday September 10, entry was allegedly gained via a back door and two phones, some money and a wallet containing several bank cards, which were later used, were stolen.

On Friday September 11 between 1am and 8am, police said entry was gained to a property on Knox Road where electricals were taken, as well as a wallet containing bank cards which were later used, it is alleged.

In the early hours of Sunday September 13, Giles is accused of entering a house on Jervis Road via a window before several items of jewellery were taken, as well as a mobile phone and a bank card, which police say was later used.

In the fourth incident, between 11pm on Monday September 14 and 5.30am on Tuesday September 15, a property on London Avenue was broken into with electricals, passports, a handbag and a purse containing bank cards all stolen, police said.

Giles appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday November 30.
