Man accused of stealing £23,000 worth of cosmetics and skincare products from Boots store in Hampshire

A man has been charged with shoplifting offences after items worth more than £23,000 were stolen from Boots stores across Hampshire - including in Fareham.

Ionel Elvis Dulea, 47, of Stephenson Street, Gateshead, has been charged with seven counts of theft from a shop and one count of attempted theft.

It comes after officers received reports that:

• Skincare products worth £1,242.34 were stolen from Boots in Aldershot on August 10 2024

• Skincare products worth £2,673.62 were stolen from Boots in Aldershot on August 6 2024

• Skincare products worth £2,099.29 were stolen from Boots in Andover on August 6 2024

• Skincare products and perfume bottles worth £10,790 were stolen from Boots in Fareham on July 20 2024

• Items worth £1,795.28 were stolen from Boots in Fareham on June 16 2024

• Skincare and cosmetic products worth £3,898 were stolen from Boots in Andover on June 10 2024

• Cosmetic products worth £887.77 were stolen from Boots in Fareham on May 19 2024

• There was an attempted theft of cosmetic products worth £815.54 from Boots in Andover on March 1 2024

The items stolen were worth a combined total of £23,386.30.

Officers launched an investigation and made an arrest. Dulea was charged and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (Thursday, September 26).
