Man denies burgling 51 homes

A MAN has denied burgling 51 homes in as many days.

Albert Ian James is accused of stealing cash, jewellery and even a safe from homes in Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Havant, Hayling Island and West Sussex.

The 56-year-old appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court and spoke only to confirm him name, age and address.

James is charged with 41 counts of burglary dwelling and theft no violence, and 10 of burglary dwelling intent to steal.

The charges range 51 days, from October 23, to December 12 last year.

Chairman of the magistrates Barry Day granted James bail.

James, of Mill Road Crescent, Chichester, is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court next month.
