Man faces jail over messages to ex-girlfriend

A MAN harassed his former girlfriend on Christmas Day.

John Seymour, 29, of Manor Way, Lee-on-the-Solent, sent Amy Tungatt abusive messages at 4am on December 25.

Seymour also called her the next day.

He also posted an abusive message about her mother on Facebook and turned up to his ex’s work in Gosport asking her dad for money.

Seymour appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to harassment between December 24 and January 7.

Adjourning the case for sentence, district judge Anne Arnold granted Seymour bail.

The judge said the court had a ‘lengthy custodial sentence’ in mind.

The court heard he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.

Marie Fittall, prosecuting, said: ‘It’s a domestic matter, the parties were together for three years, that ended two years ago.

‘They ran into each other completely by chance in November last year.’

She added Seymour had been abusive to a friend and went to his ex’s home.
