A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who saw a suspicious man in the Percy Road and Manners Road area that night. Perhaps you caught something on CCTV, doorbell camera or Dash Cam?

“We are coming to the end of summer, but it is still warm some evenings. However, we encourage people to keep properties as secure as possible including closing and locking windows and doors in the evening.

“Please also consider keeping back gates as secure as possible and be vigilant if your property backs on to an area such as an alleyway which may not be covered by CCTV.”
