Murder investigation opened after four dead bodies found at house near Chichester

A MURDER investigation has been opened after four dead bodies, all believed to be from the same family, were found by police at a home near Chichester.

Police said at about 6.45pm on Sunday (March 29) they received a report regarding concerns for the welfare of occupants at an address in Duffield Lane, Woodmancote, West Sussex.

Police said officers discovered four people - two adults and two children - and a dog inside the house. Sadly, they were confirmed dead at the scene. Police believe they were all from the same family.

Police are treating it as a murder investigation while evidence is gathered.

Chief Superintendent Jerry Westerman said: ‘This is believed to be an isolated incident contained to one property and in these early stages of the investigation we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

‘Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as our enquiries continue. Specialist officers have been deployed to support the investigation and we’re urging anyone with any information to get in touch.

‘Our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult and challenging time.’
