Number of arrests made after Portsmouth stabbing attack rises to five

POLICE have made two arrests today after an incident which saw a 19-year-old man stabbed repeatedly by a gang who tried to bundle him into the boot of a car.

The victim was left with non-life threatening wounds to his arms and legs after the attack in Bradford Road, Somers Town, on January 17.

A 17-year-old boy was previously arrested on suspicion of robbery, attempted kidnap and committing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police confirmed today a second and third arrest were also made on Wednesday in connection with the incident.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We arrested another 17-year-old boy from Portsmouth on suspicion of robbery, attempted kidnap and committing grievous bodily harm with intent.

‘We also arrested a 16-year-old girl from Portsmouth on suspicion of assisting an offender and intimidating a witness.

‘Both have been released on police bail while our enquiries continue.'

The force made two further arrests on Thursday, who both remained in custody as of Thursday evening.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, robbery and committing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Meanwhile a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap, robbery and committing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police confirmed the 19-year-old arrested is not the victim of the attack.
