Police and crime commissioner Michael Lane marks commitment to combat modern slavery
POLICE and crime commissioner Michael Lane attended a service in London to commemorate work tackling slavery.
Speaking at yesterday’s event, he said: ‘I’m very glad to be at Westminster Abbey to commemorate the work of William Wilberforce and mark the UK’s commitment to combat modern slavery.
‘It’s a serious crime and I’m delighted that it’s a national priority for government and locally in my constabulary area.’

Hide AdThe government has announced a roll-out of Independent Child Trafficking Advocates, to provide support to children. There will be three ‘early-adopter’ sites, one of which is Hampshire.
A national child trafficking protection fund of £3m has also been set up.
