Police investigate 'suspicious incident' where man put hands around boy's waist in alleyway

POLICE are investigating a ‘suspicious incident’ involving a man putting his arms around a young boy’s waist in an alleyway before the child ran off.

The authority is treating the incident in Winchester as an assault after the 11-year-old boy was approached at around 8.30am in an alleyway between Taplings Road and Eling Close after walking along Bereweeke Avenue.

‘While walking down this alleyway, he was approached by a man unknown to him who put his arms around the boy’s waist,’ a police spokesman said.

‘The boy managed to free himself and ran off to find his mother.

‘We are treating the incident as an assault, however the boy did not sustain any injuries.’

The man is described as white, aged 30 to 35, with black shoulder length hair with grey in it.

He was wearing a black puffer style jacket with the hood up, a black beanie hat, white jogging bottoms and trainers that could have been a Puma make.
