Police launch summer campaign against drink drivers

POLICE have launched a crackdown on drink and drug-driving ahead of Euro 2016.

Hampshire police officers were out yesterday warning drivers and those heading to Isle of Wight Festival.

The crackdown will run from today until July 10 as part of a campaign with the National Police Chief’s Council.

Portsmouth port staff were yesterday involved in warning drivers by giving advice to drivers heading to the Isle of Wight Festival.

Sgt Rob Heard added: ‘If you’re celebrating or commiserating during Euro 2016, don’t drive while under the influence and give yourself to process any alcohol before driving the next morning.

‘It’s a simple decision for drivers, have fun and enjoy the summer but don’t drive if you’ve had a drink. It’s not worth the risk.’
