Two more teenagers arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after five stabbed at party

One boy remains in a serious condition in hospital

Police have made two more arrests after five teenagers were stabbed at a supervised Halloween party.

Today (November 5), two 16-year-old boys from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody. In total six teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives have also been given further time by a court to question two boys who had already been arrested this week as part of enquiries.

The investigation was launched after five boys suffered serious injuries while attending a supervised party at a house in Park Road, Chandler's Ford, just after 10.30pm on Saturday, October 31.

When officers arrived at the scene, it was reported a group who had not been invited to the party had allegedly jumped the fence before the five boys, three aged 16 and two aged 17, were seriously assaulted.

While four of those boys have since been discharged from hospital, one does remain there in a serious condition.

A 16-year-old boy from Southampton, who was arrested on Monday morning, and 16-year-old boy from Southampton, who was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, also remain in custody after a court granted the investigation team additional time to question them.

DCI Elizabeth Pirie, leading the investigation, said: "We have a large number of officers working hard on many lines of enquiry.

"This includes piecing together the movements of those it is believed are involved in the serious assault, reviewing all the available footage and speaking with witnesses who have made contact with us.

"Thank you to everyone who has come forward so far to assist us with our enquiries. I know that for those who were at the party on Saturday, this has been a really distressing time, but their help has been so important."

Following enquiries while in custody, the police have now released two of the six boys who have been arrested on bail.

DCI Pirie said: "During an investigation like this one, information is provided to us which will require us to make an arrest in order to secure possible evidence and take someone's account.

"We have been working closely with the CPS to assess the available evidence and review whether there is sufficient grounds for charges to be authorised or if there is additional enquiries which need to be made.

"Today, we have released two of the boys we have arrested on police bail while we continue with our investigation. This bail comes with strict conditions in place, and this is monitored to ensure those conditions are being complied with."
