Every word Portsmouth chairman Michael Eisner said in nine-minute video to Fratton faithful
Michael and Eric Eisner pre-recorded a nine-minute video address to the Portsmouth Supporters’ Trust for Monday night’s Q&A with members. Here is the full transcript...
Eric Eisner
‘Wow, I've just finished watching the end of the Swansea game, kind of let my heart settle down, always good to get some extra-time winners there, two of them no less.
‘I have my Pompey blue on as you can see. I just want to do a quick shout out from Florida, I can say we are not going to get relegated this year, I can comfortably say that, so let’s start there!

‘It's exciting to watch the team, unbeaten in the last six, four wins and two draws. Exciting times on the pitch, exciting times off the pitch, I think it’s a good time to be a Pompey fan, I think people can see the depth we've been trying to get to be able to hold onto those leads. We are playing really well.
‘From Florida, I just want to wish everybody a great meeting. I will turn over to my father, who is in LA, so we are kind of doing a tag-team video now. But I just want to say hello to everybody. Play up Pompey.
‘One more game before the international break and what a great run we are on - and again Play Up Pompey.’
Michael Eisner
‘I’m a little better off than Eric because I’ve had half-an-hour since this fabulous win and also the last five games.
‘How terrific it is not to be at the bottom of the Championship. Mid-table is something I can’t say we absolutely planned for, but it really is the direction we have been heading for the last 10 years.
‘Negotiating and buying the team in League Two, then to League One and then to the Championship - and we’ve had a desire to do it the way we discussed at the beginning, to do it in a smart way. So far I think we’re okay.

‘We had to spend a lot of energy and pounds in bringing Fratton Park to a safe and glorious position, we had to do it with a training ground, we had to do it with all the things that were going on, high-end medical, really sophisticated operations to run this team, with a great CEO finding a great sporting director.
‘We’re so happy with the organisation, we are happy with the organisation on the pitch, we are happy with the organisation off the pitch.
‘Now what? First of all, I have organised my family so that there is a security in knowing that, should I get hit by a truck in my 40s, I have established that my three sons each now own 24.99 per cent. I have to own 25.1 per cent to be able to make decisions, be allowed to go to meetings, or sit in the directors’ box, or whatever. So that is all set up.
‘My sons are totally enthusiastic, you have just heard from Eric. So that is all set up. Now what is our strategy going forward? It really is the same strategy.
‘We have to continue to make sure our faculties, our guests and our fans zones, our lounges are doing an update and all that kind of stuff. That was number one while we had to spend the appropriate time and money.
‘But now we have diverted from the bricks and mortar to establishing even a stronger player roster - and we had additional finances this year for that and we will continue doing that.
‘What we probably are not going to do - and I know a lot of fans want it to - is expand now beyond the 21,000 or so fans that have seats.
‘We have a good waiting list, we have a good pressure on the stadium, it all works and I don’t want to divert our finances towards that now when our objective is to continually strengthen.

‘Now it’s the players and all the other things associated with what goes on in making a winning team. We are working on improving the medical, we are working on more analytics, we are working on all the technology that can give our players the chance to be the best they can be. So that is in the works.
‘What is a little depressing is the state of the game because 90 per cent of the teams lose money in the EFL, 60 per cent of those teams are in a position technically in default.
‘The Premier League takes 94 per cent of what comes down from the media (broadcasting), the EFL gets six per cent. There are a lot of things that have to be looked at, everything from fees that we pay out, the distribution of the media and how much you can spend irrelevant of anything else on players. So there is a non-equality in competitions.
‘I think the top eight this year is going to be a possibility to be promoted, two automatically, and then that contest between the next six. I like that. I did tell people we would be in the top eight, we are now 10th so we are getting there and we’re going to keep fighting for that.
‘So the bottom line is I think we are still of our word, we will continue to be of our word. We don’t want to win at any cost, we don’t want to be stupid, we don’t want to put the whole operation in some kind of default situation.

We are looking strongly at all the land - some of which we don’t own, a lot of it we do own - around Fratton Park to continue making it a better place.
‘We have got rid of the Junk Emporium. I don’t know how it got there, but it has now gone. If you are on Rodney Road then you will no longer have a Junk Emporium near us. So all that is going well.
‘So I am happy that we have had a good succession plan, I am happy that our plan with players has improved and look at how well they are doing. Tomorrow may not be as great as today, but I think it will be.
‘I just want to thank all of you in the Pompey Supporters’ Trust for being interested and for following us and being supportive.
‘I am glad to see there are no more planes flying overhead saying ‘Eisner's Out’ after three losses. I appreciate that, but I expect it if we fall apart - and we are not going to.
‘Anyway, have a great meeting, thank you for your support, thank you for an amazing fan base and an amazing city. I am looking forward to coming back next year on video. I am going to be there in person often, but also video to express how well we have done and how we are moving forward.
‘Thank you and have a great meeting.’
