Traffic officers became suspicious of the driver after he attempted to evade their following police car by taking a detour through Lyndhurst, in the New Forest.
But the driver of the silver Mercedes was unable to outwit the law enforcers, who stopped the car before discovering the vehicle owner should not have been on the roads.

In a post on Twitter, Hants Roads Policing showed a picture of the captured car and the police vehicle behind, along with a superimposed smiling carton policeman and a miniature police car to block out the registration number.
The post said: ‘The driver of this Mercedes decided to take the “scenic” route through Lyndhurst, New Forest, upon seeing the police were behind him.
‘A stop-check revealed him to be a disqualified driver and uninsured to drive. Male reported for offences accordingly.’
