The note left at the scene read: ‘Dear Mr Green Fingers, sorry we had to take your plants. If you would like to have a chat about them give me a ring. Would love to hear from you.’

The officers went on to give a further heads-up to those behind the innovative production farm by posting a message on Facebook to warn the growers.

The post included a number of pictures - including one of an officer with a plant towering above his head.

It said: ‘We were tipped off today about a little gardening project. Well hidden in a top secret location, some green fingered scamps have been having a go at growing cannabis.
