Police reveal more details after two bodies found in Portsmouth flat in one day

Police have revealed more details after two bodies were found in the same flat in Portsmouth at different times in one day.

On Wednesday police were called to a home in Estella Road in Buckland at 10.42am after the death of a man in his 50s.

Today a police spokeswoman explained more about the sequence of events.

She said: ‘Police returned to the address at 4.20pm following concerns for the welfare of a man in his 60s on Centaur Street.

‘We assisted the man to a property on Estella Road, which is when officers discovered the body of a woman in her 60s.

‘The deaths of the woman in her 60s and the man in his 50s are being treated as unexplained and our enquiries into the circumstances of this incident are ongoing.

‘We would like to reassure members of the public that we do not believe there to be any wider risk at the current time.’

When police returned to the home in the afternoon the fire service was also called out. It is understood that checks were made on the property for any hazardous substances but it was declared safe.
