Update issued after elderly woman dies in collision outside Hampshire pub - female pensioner arrested

Police are continuing to investigate what happened to an elderly woman who died in a collision.

The 80-year-old woman passed away at the scene of the incident after suffering serious injuries on April 4. She was the passenger in a blue Volkswagen Polo which got into difficulties outside The Hawk Inn pub on Sarson Lane, in Amport near Andover.

Officers were called to the scene at roughly 3.20pm. Police arrested the driver, an 81-year-old female from Andover on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. She was initially place on bail until July 4.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokeswoman said she has been released from police bail and remains under investigation. “Our enquiries into the circumstances of this collision remain ongoing,” she added.

Police previously said: “We would like to speak to anyone with information who has not already contacted the police regarding this incident. If anyone witnessed this incident, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage of what happened, please call 101 quoting reference number 44240141659.”
