Second man arrested over Eastern Road incident in Portsmouth where 'substance' thrown over victim

A SECOND man has been arrested after a man needed hospital treatment when someone threw a liquid over him, police have said.

The incident off Eastern Road at around 10.10pm on Tuesday night saw a major police response to three men in an ‘altercation’.

One of the men, in his 40s, had a liquid substance thrown over him, causing minor irritation needing treatment at Queen Alexandra Hospital. He was later discharged.

A man, 47, arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and having a knife or blade in public.

Now officers confirmed they have arrested a 43-year-old man from Portsmouth on suspicion of GBH with intent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both men have been released under investigation by police.

Firefighters attended the incident over concerns about the substance.
