Serial Gosport thief banned from Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and more following court order

A Gosport thief has been banned from 13 supermarket chains in the UK after continually targeting stealing goods.

The court heard that between December 31, 2023 and May 23 this year, Brady stole more than £1,500 worth of goods from shops in Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent. He also stole a wallet in Brockhurst Gate on May 21.

Under the conditions of the CBO, Brady must not enter any premises from which he has been banned for the next five years, and must not remain in any shop or commercial premises if asked to leave by staff. The 13 supermarket chains Brady is banned from are:

  • All Tesco and Tesco Express stores
  • All Co-op and Southern Co-operative stores
  • All Morrisons and Morrisons Daily stores
  • All Waitrose stores
  • All Spar stores
  • All Essential stores
  • All Welcome stores
  • All One Stop stores
  • All Farmfood stores
  • All ASDA stores
  • All Lidl stores
  • All The Food Warehouse stores
  • All Superdrug stores

If Brady breaches his CBO, he will be at risk of being prosecuted further.

Sergeant Rhys McCarthy, from the Gosport Neighbourhoods Policing Team, said: “Brady has continually targeted shops across the district, stealing all manner of different food items and showing no willingness to comply with the law.

“We regularly target and prosecute shoplifters, however securing this CBO provides additional restrictions which help us prevent and disrupt any potential further offending perpetrated by Brady.

“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. Repeat offences in particular can create an environment of fear for many retail workers, and this is simply not ok.
