Shop thief fined for stealing £98

The 19-year-old, of Parham Road, Gosport, pleaded guilty to theft at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He stole £98.71 from WH Smith between July 13 and 17 last year.

Magistrates ordered him to pay £98.71 compensation on top of the fine.

He must also pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

Taberner’s guilty plea was taken into account at his sentencing.
