Southsea man is arrested after late-night Fratton Tesco break-in in Portsmouth

A MAN has been arrested after a supermarket was broken into in the middle of the night.

Just before 1am today the Tesco in Fratton Way, Portsmouth, somebody broke into the store and stole items inside.

Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a 38-year-old man has been arrested following the incident.

A spokeswoman for the police force said: ‘We were called just after 1am today to reports of a burglary at Tesco, Fratton Way in Portsmouth.

‘Entry was forced to the store causing damage, and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen.

‘A 38-year-old man from Southsea has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

‘He remains in custody at this time.'
