Speed gun enforcement begins on Hayling Island

POLICE are carrying out speed checks along a busy island route.

Last month the speed limit along a long stretch of Havant Road, Hayling Island, was reduced from 40mph to 30mph.

However, many drivers are known to be still driving at the old speed limit as they are unaware of the change.

PC Simon Smith, from Havant police, said: ‘I can confirm that from Island Close to Mill Rythe the speed limit is now 30mph.

‘A number of vehicles, possibly who are unaware of the change, are still travelling at 40mph and I have seen overtaking those who are keeping to 30mph.’
