Tributes to Gosport grandfather as his brother appears in court accused of his murder

TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘thoughtful and generous’ grandfather whose brother has appeared in court charged with stabbing him to death.

Mark Oliver, 55, appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday facing a charge of murdering his 53-year-old brother Andrew Oliver.

In a tribute issued by Hampshire police, his family said: ‘Andrew Oliver was a loving, caring and creative grandfather, dad, brother, son and friend.

‘He adored his two grandchildren and dog Bert. Life without him is unimaginable.

‘He was so thoughtful and generous, always putting others’ needs before his own.

‘He will always live in our memories and will be with us on our walks in the forest with Bert and the kids.’

His older brother appeared at Winchester Crown Court accused in the fatal stabbing on Saturday in a house in Harwood Road, in Gosport, at around 3.15pm

The defendant, who lives in Harwood Road, is set to appear again in court on April 8 with a provisional trial date set for July 27.

No plea was entered.

Oliver was remanded in custody.
