A video shows the scene where a man was incapacitated and an officer injured today in Fratton.
It follows an earlier video on social media that showed an officer writhing in agony on the ground “screaming” just feet from a man detained on the ground at the back of Farm Foods, close to Clifton Street, around 1.30pm.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 1.30pm, police made attempts to stop a man behind Farm Foods in Fratton. An officer was then reportedly assaulted, and suffered an ankle injury requiring hospital treatment.

Hide Ad“Police arrested the 45-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at this time.”
A white van was reportedly seized at the scene and the officer was taken to hospital.
