Crowds enjoy Alverstoke Michaelmas Fayre

THOUSANDS of people enjoyed an annual fayre.

Crowds enjoyed more than 180 stalls at the Michaelmas Fayre in Alverstoke on Saturday.

And £25,000 was raised by charities that took part in the annual fixture.

Julie Edwards, one of the organisers, said: 'The Alverstoke Michaelmas Fayre was a huge success, over 180 stalls and over £25,000 raised by the various charities that were there.

'˜The afternoon's entertainment included the Sultan Band, the Big Noise Samba Band, the Shed Choir, the New Thorngate Singers, the Shed Ukelele Band, Strawberry Dan, Magician Glen Stone, a barrel organ and a Dalek.

'˜The weather could not have been better and thousands of local people flooded into the village. The fayre was opened by the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Diane Furlong.
