A Royal Navy spokeswoman said the £3.2bn vessel will be carrying out routine tasking while away from her home port. The News captured video footage of her near the Spinnaker Tower as she sails away from the city.
She last left the city at the beginning of last month when she headed to The Northern Ammunition Jetty for replenishment. Vital equipment was gathered from the site at the shores of Loch Long in Scotland.
Her departure follows hot on the heals of her sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth which left Portsmouth on Monday (September 2) as part of her programme of activities following her repairs and maintenance work carried out at Rosyth earlier in the year.
