The aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales will be leaving the city this afternoon, with well wishers expected to head down to Old Portsmouth to catch a glimpse of her.

According to KHM shipping movements, the aircraft carrier is excepted to leave HMNB Portsmouth at 1.35pm this afternoon (Wednesday, September 4) arriving at the NAB tower in the Solent at 2.30pm.

She last left the city at the beginning of last month when she headed to The Northern Ammunition Jetty, also known as the Glen Mallan Jetty, on the shores of Loch Long in Scotland to gather vital equipment ahead of future tasking.

Her departure follows hot on the heals of her sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth which left Portsmouth on Monday (September 2) as part of her programme of activities following her repairs and maintenance work carried out at Rosyth earlier in the year.

The best spots to watch HMS Prince of Wales leave Portsmouth will be from Old Portsmouth, the Hot Wall area, Gunwharf Quays and at Gosport facing Portsmouth Harbour.
