Magnificent pictures show Hilsea Lido full of water as multi-million restoration project nears completion

Get your swimming costume ready because Portsmouth’s only outdoor pool is making waves as it nears the end of a multi-million pound restoration project.

But after almost two years of work at the site, the lido is nearing completion - and it is now full of water.

The pool, which is set to officially open on Saturday, May 2, is currently undergoing testing and as such, it does not have chemicals in it and the filters are yet to be turned on.

The contractors - Beard - will leave the pool at this level for a week, with a surveyor regularly measuring the water levels.

Sea Lanes Brighton will be taking on the newly improved site, in partnership with South Downs Leisure, with the team outlining plans for a new sauna and a timetable full of events and community activities.
