Orlando Bloom is going to have his work cut out | Cheryl Gibbs

Singer Katy Perry said her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom, is perfect for her because he can help control her low moods.

That’s a very interesting thought.

The couple are expecting their first baby later this year and while Katy admits that she’s super blessed to be expecting a bubba, she said that her mood swings get so low that no one would be able to handle them except Orlando.

Bless her.

I really don’t want to be one of those people who know it all once they’ve had a baby, but if she has mood swings now, wait until the overnight feeds and hour-long screaming fits kick in.

Orlando may have his work cut out then!

Our Harley will soon be a little bilingual petite fille

This week I paid the Waterlooville tip another visit – it doesn’t get much more exciting than this for us at the moment I’m afraid.

While emptying the back of our car, which embarrassingly was full to the brim with beer bottles, wine bottles, and gin bottles, I overhead a guy asking one of the people who worked there if they accepted kids toys.

I didn’t think much of it and headed over to the bottle bank, but as I returned I noticed what he was unloading.

There was a sensory board which lights up and flashes and plays music, and a walker for when they slowly start walking.

I thought to myself, ‘Harley would like that’. So I asked the guy, ‘Are you tipping that?’ to which of course he looked at me a little strangely (I mean we were at a tip after all) and I asked if I could have it.

In the back of my mind I wondered if this would go down like a lead balloon at home when I told Matt that Harley’s new toys came from the tip.

However, I reasoned with myself that there’s not a lot of difference between that and taking someone’s hand-me-downs, which we’ve done since she was born, or buying something from Facebook Marketplace.

I was really chuffed with myself, especially as the sensory board had an English and French option and I thought when she’s a bit older we could have some fun with it.

As soon as I got home I started cleaning it in the shower. When Matt came in he wondered what I was doing so I told him and he actually took it better than I imagined.

But he wondered why I was cleaning something in the shower that lights and plays music and therefore clearly has batteries. I did not think it through.

I told him it was fine, but as I started drying it I noticed that when I pressed the red button, instead of the musical button saying ‘red’ it blared out ‘rouge’ the blue button, bleue’. You see where this is heading.

By getting it wet I had tripped something inside and there was no longer an English version but a permanent French version.

Still, as they say in France, c’est la vie.

As a new parent you take the highs with the messy lows

We’re desperately trying to get Harley to sleep in until 6am but at the moment most of the time we start our day around 5am, 5.30am if we’re lucky.

I can’t complain as she doesn’t wake up at all from 7pm, but no one really wants to begin their day at that ungodly hour.

But that’s the life of a new parent so we suck it up and we play with her until she gives in and goes for a nap.

I made a big mistake this week – I gave her a bottle, a full milk feed, about 5.30am and by 6.15am started playing ‘aeroplane’ with her and dangled her over my head, bringing her down and up. We were both laughing until Harley threw up spectacularly in my face from a great height.
