New PM will give us stability after Brexit - Havant MP
Monday in Westminster was a dramatic day, with Andrea Leadsom withdrawing from the race to be next Conservative Party leader, meaning home secretary Theresa May has become prime minister. I backed Theresa May as soon as she launched her campaign.
She provides the strong, experienced leadership – and stability – Britain needs after a tumultuous few weeks.

There have also been new beginnings closer to home. At Hayling Island, Pepperelli’s is famous for its ice-cream. Last Friday I helped owner Tonia and the team open their new Wine Lounge, an exciting new addition to Eastoke Corner. Having worked in my own family’s business, I know how much work goes into getting a new venture off the ground.
Hayling Island Businessmen’s Club’s barbecue on Sunday night was a wonderful community event, with Tim Pike and his family doing a marvellous job of making Northney Farm a welcoming venue for hundreds of residents.
Supporting schools and students is one my top priorities, so I was delighted to host a meeting with headteachers and Google at Havant College to discuss ideas for using technology to help students.

I held my first surgery last week since the murder of Jo Cox. Thanks to Hampshire police for their advice and support. My next one is on August 12 from 10am until 11.30am at the Ship Inn, Langstone. No appointment needed.
