9. The Elephant & Castle
The original pub was destroyed during the Second World War but was rebuilt after the conflict. It could be found in Sultan Road, Buckland. It was demolished in 2001 and replaced by houses. Photo: Submitted
10. The Mayflower
This pub dated back to the Victoria era and could be found in Highland Road, Eastney. It was demolished by developers in 2008 despite planning permission being denied. Photo: Contributed
11. Monks
Once found in the High Street in Old Portsmouth this pub/ wine bar, was opposite St Thomas’s Anglican cathedral. It was turned into a tapas bar by the name of El Nico in 2014, but has since shut down. Photo: Allan Hutchings
12. The Oakwood
This lost pub was in Northern Parade, Hilsea. It opened its doors in the 1930s and closed down in 2009 after being purchased by the Co-Operative Society. Photo: Emma Ailes
