A road ambulance from South Central Ambulance Service and a helicopter crew from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were mobilised to a boat at the Quay Lane Boatyard at around 1.15pm today.

Medical staff decided it was best for the patient to be taken by road to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for further treatment.

A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘The air ambulance team was part of a response we sent to someone having a suspected medical emergency on a boat at Quay Lane Boatyard.

‘The air ambulance crew assessed the patient but he didn’t require their enhanced skills and it was agreed that it was an emergency the ambulance crew on scene could safely deal with and get the patient to hospital.’
