Fire crew attends unexplained blaze as parked Vauxhall Corsa engine catches light in Havant

A fire crew from Havant Fire Station spent an hour tackling the blaze in Winterslow Drive after being called to the incident at 4am.
The Vauxhall Corsa suffered extensive fire damage across its front and engine, with the heat of the fire melting the side of a nearby car.

Hide AdThe owner told fire fighters that the car had passed its MoT a week ago and it had not been driven since Monday morning.
Crew manager Pete Yeomans said the unexplained cause of the fire was a ‘cause for concern’.
He said: ‘There was no obvious sign of how it started.
‘We get a lot of (car fires) in the area where kids or someone with a grudge will smash a window and throw in a petrol can – but there was no sign of broken glass.’
In 2016, concerns were raised about Corsa model D and E hatchbacks built since 2006 being at risk of catching fire, with dozens of owners across the country reporting blazes in their cars.
It led to Vauxhall recalling a total of 2,767 vehicles.
No one was injured in the incident in Havant.
