Firefighters tackle two blazes in Fareham and Portsmouth after lightning strikes

FIREFIGHTERS have been sent to two fires this afternoon after homes were struck by lightning.

Crews from Cosham were sent out at 2.14pm to a two-storey property in Sennen Place, Paulsgrove.

A statement from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘There is a small fire in the loft hatch which was caused by lightning.

‘The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.’

It was out just before 3.25pm.

And firefighters from Fareham and Gosport went out at 2.36pm to a house in Summerleigh Walk in Fareham after a fire caught hold in a roof after a lightning strike.
