Hampshire firefighters tackle grain dryer fire at East Meon farm

FIRE crews from across the region spent last night tackling a fire at a farm in East Meon.

Fire fighters were deployed from Cosham, Fareham, Havant, Portchester and Petersfield after receiving the call at 4pm yesterday afternoon (August 27) to tackle the blaze in a grain dryer at South Farm on Clanfield Road.

A firefighter who attended the incident said: ‘There was 12 tonnes of grain inside.

‘There was no way to get in and so we had to get the grain out before extinguishing it.’

In total six fire appliances attended the incident which came to an end at 1am this morning (August 28).

A fire crew from Cosham returned to the scene at 5am to check the fire was completely out.
