Football fan running to all 92 stadiums in top four English football tiers set to visit Fratton Park

Nathan Richardson discovered a love of running last year, taking on his first three marathons within a couple of months - and has now embarked on a huge challenge.

Inspired by Burnley fan Scott Cunliffe, who ran to every Burnley Premier League away fixture last season, 29-year-old Nathan from Manchester decided to run to every ground from League Two up to the Premier League.

With Fratton Park coming up next week as his 33rd stadium, Nathan is well on his way to achieving his goal which will see him run roughly 2,500 miles.

Nathan, from Manchester, said: ‘I have never been to Portsmouth so I’m looking forward to it. It’s been difficult in parts but it’s been a great adventure.’

Friends and supporters have been joining him for parts of the journey which started from his home ground of Old Trafford, and he even got a surprise text from ex-Portsmouth FC manager Harry Redknapp to wish him luck.

HGV workshop manager Nathan quit his job in Papua New Guinea in December to start training for this challenge, which he hopes will raise thousands for two charities.

His fundraising will support mental health charity Mind and The Super Joshua Wilson Brain Tumor Charity, which was set up after Bury resident Joshua was born with a brain stem tumour and his mum Dawn wanted to help other children and charities in a similar situation.
