Fratton boy, 8, cuts off 17 inches of hair in support of Little Princess Trust

Reuben Bailey from Fratton has been loved his long hair and had been growing it throughout his life.

His mum, Jodie Noyce, said the youngster decided this year he wanted to sport a shorter hairdo.

Jodie said: ‘I couldn’t think of a better way than to donate his hair to Little Princess Trust. We really hope another child will get to use some of his hair.’

Arriving at Mcutting in Kingston Road in Portsmouth, Reuben sat patiently waiting for his haircut with his mum, his dad Wayne Bailey and his 17-month-old sister Amelia.

Stylist Sasha Kennedy took on the task of creating a nervous Reuben’s extreme new hairdo so he could donate his locks to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss.

‘He went over, sat down, told her how he wanted it styled and before I knew it, the ponytail was nearly off,’ said Jodie.

‘I was really emotional but I was so relieved that shorter hair suited Reuben better than I thought.’

Reuben had a massive 17 inches was cut off and was thrilled with the new do, rating the trim a ‘ten out of ten’.

He said he feels proud that his actions will hopefully make another child happy when they receive a wig made from his hair.

Jodie added: ‘Myself, Wayne, our friends and family are so proud of Reuben, not only for donating his hair and raising money for Little Princess Trust but for being brave enough to have all his long hair finally cut.

‘I would also like to thank everyone who has donated and supported Reuben.’

Reuben has managed to raise £190 for the Little Princess Trust so far, which has almost doubled his original target of £100.

His parents have decided to keep the online fundraising page open for any further donations.
