‘I thought it would be a nice thing to do, and would be a great way to raise some money in the hope that a cure might one day be found.

‘That’s the real problem with multiple sclerosis – it tends to come and go. People suffering from it go through highs and lows.’

So far, Cllr Burgess has managed to raise more than £900 for the MS Society.

Cllr Burgess is the deputy leader of Gosport Borough Council, as well as being a councillor for the Lee East ward.

Recently, Cllr Burgess also took over as chairman of Hampshire County Council.
