Gosport cyclist left with injuries to his head after a man assaulted him and tried to steal his bike in Forton Park

A MAN has been left with injuries to his head after he was assaulted during an attempted robbery in Gosport, with police appealing for information from the public.

Between 6.10am and 6.20am on Saturday, October 22, the victim, a 44-year-old man from Gosport, was cycling in Forton Park.

He was approached by a man who assaulted him and demanded the bike - but the victim refused and rode away.

The victim suffered a lump to the side of his head as a result of the incident.

According to a representative from Hampshire Constabulary, the man police want to speak to is described as being white, aged 30 - 40, 5ft 9ins and wearing ripped black jeans, with him carrying a black bin bag at the time of the incident.

PC Matthew Nicholls, said: ‘I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward. Did you see the offender fleeing the scene?’
