The streaming giant announced the news via social media on Thursday saying that it had heard users feedback ‘loud and clear’.

Users will now be able to turn off the autoplay feature which makes previews for movies or TV show start playing automatically while scrolling through the platform.

Netflix UK & Ireland tweeted: ‘Some people find the autoplaying trailers useful.

‘Some of you...not so much. So in case you missed it, you now have the power to switch them off.’

Users now have the the ability to turn both autoplay previews as well as stopping the next episode of a series playing automatically.

Here’s how:

Stopping autoplay previews on Netflix

To turn autoplay on or off:

- Sign In to Netflix from a web browser.

- Select Manage Profiles from the menu.

- Select the profile you’d like to update.

- Check or uncheck the option to Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices.

Netflix says that there may be a delay before the setting takes effect.

However users can force an update by switching to another profile, then switching back in order to reload your profile with the updated setting.

Turn autoplay next episode on or off

To turn autoplay on or off:

- Sign In to Netflix from a web browser.

- Select Manage Profiles from the menu.

- Select the profile you’d like to update.

- Check or uncheck the option to Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices.

Same as with changing the autoplay preview feature there may be a delay before the setting takes effect.
