A statement today (February 3) on social media from Havant Borough Council said: ‘Due to the ongoing over topping and the amount of debris left behind, the decision has been made to close half of West Beach car park, Hayling Island, for health and safety. It will remain closed until further notice.’

The update follows on from the decision to close the whole car park yesterday following the ‘adverse weather and high tide’.
