Representing the county at her second pageant pencilled in for 2021 will be Lex Underdown, a 35-year-old who is new to pageantry and has thrown herself into the experience.

Lex, from Hambledon, will compete as UK’s National Ms Hampshire in the UK’s National Miss pageant in March 2021, as well as taking on her other title as Ms Diamond Portsmouth in February 2021’s Miss Diamond UK final.

She has also been collecting toys, books and games for the children’s ward at Queen Alexandra Hospital as part of her charitable contributions linked to her pageant titles.

Lex, who has served on HMS Westminster, HMS Illustrious, and HMS Enterprise, is hoping to prove anyone can take part in these events if they want to, no matter what your age or what you look like.

She said: ‘I am thoroughly enjoying my time in pageantry. I have met some lovely women and young girls who are all inspirational in their own right, also a couple of dress shop owners who have provided me with lots of help and advice when it comes to pageants.

‘I would like to thank one lady in particular, Kylie Rose, who is the owner of Kylie Rose Boutique in Cardiff. Many dresses purchased from her and she has kindly sponsored some beautiful earrings for me.’

Lex is working hard to prepare for the two large events, which will see her donning various outfits and meeting other women who have been selected for the national finals.

She added: ‘I have gone all out and currently have around 14 different pageant dresses including a couple of one-offs. A woman can never have enough dresses.’
