Meet the passionate storm chaser from Portsmouth who captures terrifying tornados around the world
Watch storm chaser Kurt Stechman from Portsmouth recount some of the terrifying situations he has found himself in when chasing tornados around the world.
Meet the Portsmouth man with an unusual passion - chasing tornados around the world.
Kurt Stechman aka Supercell Stech is aiming to make a mark on the science world by capturing photographs and videos of the storms.
Stechman said: “I've always wanted to be a storm chaser, since 30 years ago. I was watching my friends actually on TV, that I didn't know they were going to be my friends now, how crazy is that?

“You can prepare as much as you want in theory, but when you get out there, you're like, ‘what do I do?’ It's scary stuff, It really was. And these storms are unpredictable, because even though you think you know what you're doing, the storm would do the totally opposite thing.
“It was 2018, it was probably my second storm I've ever gone to and there were two storms right next to each other, and there was a little gap that I wanted to get between. As I'm going further and further towards the two storms, the gap was getting smaller and smaller and smaller, and the storms started to merge together as one. First of all, I heard the tornado sirens going off, then I see some ground rotation to my left and I thought, ‘No, this is it, what am I doing’ but luckily enough we managed just to punch through that and then saw it from the backside of it really. My heartbeat was going.
“I thought I don't want to do that again but then the more you know, the more you do it again. You think I can do that, it's easy.”
Stechman, who plans to do more film work, hopes to get a sponsor and says he has a bank of artwork which he’d like to garner some interest in.
